About this blog:
Healthy Heart:
I was born five weeks early with a congenital heart defect. I might not have survived
except for the efforts of an amazing surgical team when I was one day old. I have overcome this potential devastating defect and now, over 30 years later, I’m in the best shape of my life, and I never take my health for granted.
and Sole:
Despite my heart defect, I ran track in middle school, and after graduating college, I have run countless races – including one marathon and three half marathons – and I never take my health for granted.
When I was about 10, my grandfather told me that because I had survived when I was a
newborn, the Lord had put me on this earth for a very special reason. I’m still trying to
figure that reason out, but hopefully this blog will get me closer to understanding my
purpose. I’m sharing my story, and I hope to inspire other regular
people like me to make healthy choices one step at a time.
I’m not perfect, I’m not a vegan, I don’t follow a paleo diet and I don’t have any food
allergies. Sometimes I eat junk food. I’m addicted to ice cream and coffee, but I do like to
work out, and I love to run. I hope you enjoy this blog, and learn a little about me and a
lot about yourself!
